Carrasco International Airport was voted the best in the world, in an international competition organized by the US site www.architizer.com.

The Uruguayan air terminal scored a double victory, winning both the jury and the popular votes. From the 156 finalists, only 14 buildings obtained the double distinction.
Carrasco Airport, a project by Uruguayan architect Rafael Vinoly, beat the other two finalists -the airports of Bodrum (Turkey) and Terminal II of San Francisco Airport (USA).

This is the first edition of A+ Architizer Awards, an initiative of architizer.com site, which specializes in architecture. The competition included 52 architectural categories. A total of 87 buildings were selected as winners.
The Popular vote consisted of 150,000 votes from across the world.
