Uruguay’s National Ballet Sodre has been nominated for the best dancing performance award of the Teatro Rojas in Toledo, Spain. In 2015 this cultural institution is celebrating its eightieth anniversary.

The nomination is for the interpretation on “El Mesías” (The Messiah) performed 9 November 2014 at the El Greco Auditorium, the last performance of a tour that included 14 performances in ten cities around Spain.

Apart from Uruguay’s National Ballet, Spain’s National Ballet, for “Sorolla”, and the Companyia Gelabert Azzopardi for “Cesc Gelabert V.O” were also nominated for the dance category.

The prizes are awarded by the Teatro Rojas spectators who receive the theater program in their homes, about 2000. This has led to the increasing significance of these awards in the world of performing arts over the years.

Award winners of the 12th previous editions include figures such as Amparo Rivelles, Lola Herrera, Mari Carrillo, María Isbert, Juan Echanove, Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, Javier Cámara, José María Pou, Adolfo Marsillach, Pilar Miró, Natalia Millán, Silvia Marsó, Carlos Hipólito, Emma Suárez, Ainhoa Arteta, Blanca Portillo or José Luis Gómez.
