The third date of the 2015/2016 Formula E season took place, presenting the first all-electric races seeking to reduce CO2 emissions and increase sustainable practices in Punta del Este.

On Saturday, December 19, the third date of the Formula E championship in its second edition took place in Punta del Este.  Once again one of the main resorts of our country dressed up for an event of global competition, presenting a unique opportunity to watch first class racing on a street circuit, while also seeking to raise awareness about caring for the environment . The FIA Formula E is characterized by applying electric technology in search of contributing to reduce CO2 emissions, increase sustainable practices and solutions to promote economic and cleaner transport in cities of the world where they present themselves.

The championship is focused on three core values: Energy, the Environment and Entertainment; a fusion of engineering, technology, sports, science, design, music and entertainment. All combined to boost the electric future, just as expressed in its official website.

In this third date, the Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi of the French Renault team finished first to score his second win of the 2015/2016 season of this electric car Formula. Buemi won the race with a time of 45:59,697, ahead of Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi (Schaeffler Audi Sport ABT) and Belgian Jerome DAmbrosio (Dragon Racing), who started from pole position.

With this result, Buemi, former pilot of Toro Rosso Formula 1, became the leader of the drivers’ championship of Formula E with 62 points, one ahead of Di Grassi, while DAmbrosio is third with 33.

The next race of the season in Formula E will be held on February 6 in Buenos Aires.
