After the success of apps like Pedidos Ya, Paganza and Bullet Boy, other local applications arise.

When talking about domestic industry, software is often placed in the last position. But, Uruguay is become in the last years a technological pole and a developer of software and applications, not only meant for the local market.

A god example is Pedidos Ya, a website and a mobile application meant to ask for food delivery from a cellphone or computer, skipping the boring task of spelling long lists of orders by phone, when you have a meeting with friends in your home. Pedidos Ya is now the by default app for food delivery. Not only in Uruguay: the app is also active in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

Beyond the utilities market, there are other successful apps. Bullet Boys is a mobile game developed by the Uruguayan company Pomelo Games. The game was a top feature in the Apple Store. Pomelo Games also created Mars Mars, a game that was a hit in the mobile market too.

But there is more: Oincs, an app that help drivers with transit information; paganza an app for paying bills trough your cellphone, and, of course, Kingdom Rush, one of the most successful games. And the list goes on.

All these apps already had their top moment, but are still installed in cellphones all around the world. Now is time for a new generation of Uruguayan applications. These are four new apps that look to save you time, money and setbacks.

Avivate

Avivate (wake yourself up) is an app that helps you to save money. Created by Bantonal and DVelop Software Solutions, this app localize trough GPS all the promotions, discounts and sales available in your area. To facilitate the search Avivate has different filters to guide the client towards what he is looking for. One of these fillers is the credit card you use. After you choose your credit card, the app only shows you the stores that have promotions with these cards. The same happens with location, stores and categories of interest. Tateti – Tengo mesa para ti

This app is meant to find dining places all over the country; from fancy restaurants to pubs, including fast food places. Tateti covers all the market niches, from young people looking for a drink to a family searching a place to eat with their children or a couple in a romantic dinner. The user has to pick up the place where he wants to eat, select the hour and make the reservation. (iOS and Android, free).

My Barrio

My Barrio wants to make neighbors closer to their communities’ trough a virtual billboard. When you access you have to create an account with your cellphone number. In the home page you can view the posts of your neighbors but also there is a map view to see the publications geolocalised and in different categories like Ask, Offer, Report or Gossip. Although this is a new app there are already announces about used furniture, computer repairs services, missing pets and posts related with security. (iOS and Android, free)

Marca la cancha

This app could be a real solution when you arrange a soccer match between friends and you have no available pitch in the desired hour. Marca la cancha solve the problem showing you a map of all the football pitches available. The user chooses the pitch and the hour and makes the reservation. The system sends you the confirmation and all is ready. You can filter by hour, day, neighborhood and disponibility. The app also uploads daily promotions and announces tournaments. (Android, free)
