The Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) 2013-2014, elaborated by The World Economic Forum, was published in September.

Uruguay holds the 5th position in the region according to the Global Competitiveness Index, despite the fact that the country dropped from the 74th position to 85th, in comparison to last year’s edition.

The GCR is elaborated from the aggregation of 12 pillars which shows the competitiveness of a country and are gathered in three Sub indexes: “Basic requirements”, “Efficiency enhancers” and “Innovation and sophistication”. The final value of the GCR is obtained by combining the value of these three sub-indexes.
