The solidarity initiative of the national company Texturable presents the 30 selected artisans and their process of creating design products for the home.

After an open call with 300 registered participants, including artisans, artists and designers from all over the country, 30 ventures were selected to participate in the Uruguay Teje initiative of the company Texturable, which promotes the culture of wool design and creates visibility and links between the different actors of the Uruguayan wool sector. The event was supported by the sectorial brand Uruguay Wools.

Uruguay Teje aims to be a complete experience that provides its participants with the tools to develop and strengthen their own enterprises.

All corners of Uruguay are represented in the selection. From Salta, artisan Nora Ruppel introduced her enterprise Tilana Universo Textil and from Canelones, designers María Mallet and Krestin Quiring. Paulina Gross, designer and co-founder of La Pasionaria, presented her art in felt and from Maldonado the designer Bárbara Colja, the textile artists Alejandra Rodríguez, Roxana Chiossi and Delfina Curia.

The department of Maragato is represented by Matilde Rossy, creator of Carlina and the artisan Rosario Núñez. Meanwhile, Florida is represented by the crochet craftswoman Adriana Rotela, from the town of Mendoza Chico. Natalia Parentelli, from the city of Carmelo, is participating with her enterprise Napas Tejidos and the textile artist, Jimena Risso, represents the department of Rocha with her clothes.

From the capital of the country, the artisans Aldo Rissolini, María Pons, Ana Grajales (Trama), Virginia Goday, Noelia Martínez, Lucía Cebreiros (Luce Bordados) Patricia Delsa (Apachu Wool), Graciela Borreani, Inés Schol (Di Lana), Mariana Rissolini, Nicole Brande, Silvia Umpierrez and Josefina Welters, Laura Elola, Ruth Vilche, Manuela Vilanova and Estefanía O’Neill were selected.

Second stage

Through the logistics company La Nave Multimodal, the participants received top quality merino wool at home to materialise their design. The raw material was donated by the Uruguayan companies Texturable and Lanas Trinidad and spun by Leo Hilados.

In addition, the designer Alejandra Asplanato gave the training “The design process from a handmade point of view”, which introduced the participants to key concepts to define the design to work oriented to the manufacture of a product for the home. The designer and founder of Texturable, Claudia Rosillo, also provided mentoring to guide and support the entrepreneurs during the process.

About the third stage

In the third stage of Uruguay Teje, the products made by the artisans will be incorporated into Texturable’s online shop.

For this stage there will be a training on “Branding strategies for entrepreneurs”, which will be given by marketing specialist Rosario Terra.
The closing of Uruguay Teje will be in charge of Claudia Rosillo, who will impart her knowledge and experience on international marketing.
